WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Eco-Story of Portland, Maine, is recalling 42,000 LED lamps due to a fire hazard, a federal consumer watchdog agency said.
The lamps, which were imported from China, can overheat when used without a Class II transformer, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The 12-volt light-emitting diode lamps with UL No. E3 16865 were sold primarily to restaurants from December 2007 through August 2010 for $19 to $45. They were not sold directly to consumers, the commission said.
The commission advised businesses to stop using the lamps and contact Eco-Story for a replacement lamp that does not require a Class II transformer to operate safely.
