Xiamen LED Company Leedarson Develops Plastic Heat Sinks for LED Bulbs
Authors£º Updated£º2011/3/15 13:31:08 Hits£º372´Î

Leedarson, a Chinese maker of lighting and LED bulbs, based in Xiamen, Fujian province, is reported to utilize injection molding to replace metal components in the heat sinks of some of its LED bulbs, a switch it says will give it more design and production flexibility.

According to the company, it has made a breakthrough on moving from aluminum heat sinks, which require stamping, casting and secondary finishing, to heat sinks using a compound from SABIC Innovative Plastics US LLC, which will improve design and provide heat-stable white color without needing secondary painting operations.

Eder Lee, general manager of Leedarson introduced that “The technology will make it easy for us to boost production capacity because injection molding is highly scalable compared metalworking. The material also provides the freedom to design the next generation of heat sinks for future LED technologies.”

At present, Leedarson is using SABIC’s LNP Konduit grade of thermally-conductive compounds. Pittsfield, Mas-based SABIC said in a press release that the material meets industry requirements for electrical isolation and heat dissipation, and can help drive acceptance of lower-energy consumption LED bulbs.
