The NEEA Cooperates with Seattle

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) has released a video of the visual performance study done in Ballard the past couple nights.

The streetlight study is jointly led by NEEA and the City of Seattle, aiming at comparing the difference in visibility between new
LED street lights and traditional high pressure sodium lights. And the city has been closing down 15th Avenue NW between NW 65th and NW 80th Street to allow volunteer pedestrians and drivers to test the LED lights under varying conditions for the past few nights.

According to NEEA, the three-night streetlight testing in Ballard demonstrates the effectiveness of solid state lighting using LEDs. Additionally, the study will provide the guidance to help municipalities select proper lighting levels for LED streetlights, which use up to 50 percent less energy than traditional streetlighting technologies.
