April 4, 2012... IMM Photonics introduces a newly developed LED featuring a continuous spectrum from
400 nm to 750 nm. Standard white LEDs have a gap in the spectrum between 400 nm and 450 nm and around 500 nm. The new WISPEC-LED closes this gap.
IMM combined four LED chips on one compact LED substrate to deliver homogenous white light. Depending on the application, the light can be adjusted because individual LEDs can be controlled independently from one another. For example it is possible to generate “Cool White” with a color temperature of > 7.800 K. A CRI (Color Rendering Index) value > 90 can be realized as easily as a Lighting current of >130 lm. A color mixing stick (optional) allows homogenous localized and spectral light distribution. Using pulse-width modulation (PWM), the LED is also dimmable by a ratio of 1:400 without changing its color.
The WISPEC-LED was developed to replace halogen lamps, but is also used for applications such as microscope lighting or color measurement. An additional advantage is it’s low infrared radiation. This IR radiation can be a problem in many applications but it is not an issue with the WISPEC-LED.
IMM manufactures a line of high quality specialty laser diode modules for biophotonic, medical and industrial applications.
