LED ceiling lights sales boomed in Japanese market |

After the devastating earthquake, the sales of LED ceiling have boomed in Japanese market, particularly energy efficient appliances. According to GfK, a leading provider of digital research solutions in the US, LED ceiling have experienced a remarkable increase, with their unit sales share hiking from 2.9% in March 2011 to 50.1% in March 2012. In terms of value, there was a notable rise of 64.1% over the same period of analysis, marking the first time sales of LED ceiling have exceeded fluorescent ceiling in both units and value.
In 2011, the overall ceiling light market experienced a double digit year on year growth thanks to the growing demand for LED products. And this trend raises the bar in 2012. Ceiling light sales in March rose by 46.7% in units and 108.4% in value compared to the same period of last year.
These LED ceiling are sold at an average selling price 3 times higher than fluorescent models. Consumers are attracted not only by their energy efficient attributes, but also the additional features they offer. According to the survey, in March, 94% of LED ceiling sold were able to control brightness to several different degrees for electricity saving, while 70% allowed consumers to change the color of light.lightslightslightslightslightslights |
