The findings show that now there are about 500,000 or , in a broader view, even 100 million Taiwanese working in mainland.
The study also points out that speaking of the reason for working in mainland, 46% and 53% people are attracted by better salaries and promising prospect. However, 67% say they are bothered by being apart with their families and 46% express concern about their future career and that they may not able to continue their career back in Taiwan, and some of them even feel hard in adaption to the local workplace culture.
Many Taiwanese who work in mainland don’t need apply for Taiwan medicare and they will not be covered in the health care system after retire back in Taiwan.
