Philips Mexicana installed new LED lighting technologyin more than 700 restaurants operated by Alsea, the operator of fast food, cafeterias and casual dining in Latin America. This is an unprecedented sustainability initiative in Mexico to support the environment.
Considering an approximate investment of MXN $33 million (approximately more than USD 2 million), eight months of research and six months of implementation, new Philips LED lighting technology has been deployed in more than 700 Alsea’s restaurants including Domino´s Pizza, Starbucks, Burger King, Chili´s, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang´s China Bistro, Pei Wei Asian Diner and Italianni´s.
The project involved installation of more than 28,800 light bulbs with LED technology of which more than 20,880 Master LED lamps are replacing halogen and incandescent lamps, and more than 8,000 Fortimo LED systems are substituting fluorescent systems. The new Philips LED lighting technology has between 25,000 and 50,000 hours of life, reducing operating expenses by not having to constantly change the lamps.
The LED lighting system was designed according to the needs of each restaurant. For example, in the case of Domino´s Pizza and Burger King, a uniform lighting was installed throughout the sales floors where the color temperature enables a safety and clean environment. At Starbucks, warm colors were used, creating environments of comfort and relaxation, and at PF Chang´s a discreet lighting was deployed accentuating the architecture of the restaurant.
