Taiwan-based LED maker High Power Opto. Inc recently announced that 140 employees have been removed in three batches in the third of the month of June, along with salary cuts for manager-and-above level executives.

High Power Opto. Inc.’s general manager Zhang Zhisong points out in the announcement that in response to the loss from blue, green LED production line, the company plans to reduce manufacture of deficit products and turn to more profitable new vertical products. Therefore, surplus workforce and unqualified staff in terms of professional field have to be removed.

In addition to the layoff, High Power says that manager-and-above level executives will experience salary cuts as well in light of the current loss status.
