Orb Optronix, the first fully-independent ISO 17025 certified IES LM-80 testing facility in the United States, has been chosen by the Korea Photonics Technology Institute (KOPTI) to provide full IES LM-80:2008 Lifetime Lumen Maintenance and Measurement Hardware for the creation of a full IES LM-80 Test and Measurement Lab Facility in South Korea.

This is an important step in LED lighting, as KOPTI is an Industrial Technology Research Institute specializing in Photonics Technology. The Institute primarily supports the Photonics Industry through new technologies and products as a result of Research and Development Activities and Industry Support Services such as Joint R & D, Pilot Production, Test & Reliability Assessment, Patent Analysis and Distribution.

KOPTI shares their high-performance laboratory equipment and clean room facilities with photonics companies for developing LED's, Optical Communication Modules, Precision Optical Components (which are key technologies of Solid State Lighting), High Speed/Capacity Communications, and High Performance Optical Instruments.
