dian power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) has announced a scheme to sold LED bulbs at R399 each against the market price of R700 to R800. This means that inhabitants in Delhi can buy LED bulbs at almost half the market price.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that her government will grant some concession in value added tax to promote the use of LED bulbs.

e demand of power is going up by the day. It used to be 2,000 MW in the year 2000 and has risen to around 5,600 MW today. To conserve energy and restrict billing on electricity it is advisable to use LED bulbs,"

Delhi government too has been pushing for usage of LED bulbs in the city after finding it difficult to dispose off fused CFL bulbs.
Explaining the dynamics of the scheme, a BRPL official said that the scheme will be open to all inhabitants in Delhi and not be restricted to their own customers.
