Zumtobel Group, an internationally leading supplier of integral lighting solutions based in Austria, has established Thorn Lighting (Tianjin) Co., Ltd in Tianjin, China, which specializes in R&D for road and tunnel lighting.
 
The factory will replace a much smaller lighting factory and will include a production shop and an administrative block, as well as a laboratory and testing facilities. The entire plant takes up an area of 19,000 sq m and has been built with the support of the local development company TEDA (Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area).
 
In addition, Zumtobel Group said the factory would also help it target the global market. “At our two luminaire plants in Tianjin and Guangzhou, we are aiming to manufacture not only a comprehensive product portfolio for the local market but also products for our global business”, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Martin Brandt said.
