As a London 2012 Sustainability Partner and a Global Olympic 2012 sponsor, GE has worked closely with London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) to deliver a low impact, energy efficient and sustainable event with their energy-saving and eco-friendly lighting solutions.Their solutions will either continue to deliver energy savings for years to come or allow lamps to be re-used in projects around the city after the end of the Games in September 2012.

Security is of paramount importance at such a high profile event. As such, GE Lighting has supplied its Odyssey luminaires and CMH Streetwise lamps to ensure the highest levels of security within the main visitor areas in the Olympic Parks. GE Lighting's Streetwise lamps, deliver a brighter, safer light and high colour rendering, help to promote feelings of safety within the parks and ensure footage gained through CCTV cameras is a clear as possible.

With GE Lighting's vast portfolio, the company also supplied a range of specialist sports floodlights for the Olympic Hockey Arena. An extremely powerful architectural floodlight, the Euroflood 2000 has been designed with an integrated ballast compartment for HPS and Metal Halide (MH) lamps up to 600W.

In addition, to mark the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games GE has transformed London's iconic Tower Bridge with a new state of-the-art lighting system – designed to enhance its architectural features and replace static lights with bulbs that can vary in intensity and colour, while at the same time cutting energy consumption considerably.

The famous landmark will also feature giant suspended Olympic Rings and Paralympic Agitos for the 45 days of the Games. GE will be illuminating the rings, as well as smaller versions in Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff using its powerful LED Floodlights and working in conjunction with all the major cities' councils to ensure that once again, the installations can be reused after the Olympic Games come to a close.
