muRata launches volume production of standard power supplies for LED lighting
Authors£º Updated£º2012/8/2 14:07:09 Hits£º363´Î
Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has started mass production of standard power modules for LED lighting. Compliant with DALI*1 (IEC62386) transmission standards for lighting, the power suppliers are the optimal choice for controlling BEMS*2 and HEMS*3 systems with multiple lighting devices.

Features:
Compatible with various types of dimming functions
Compatible with 3 types of dimmers: DALI dimmers, UART*5 (Murata Manufacturing's dedicated wireless transmission module) dimmers and PWM dimmers.*6
Worldwide input
Compatible with 90-267v AC; can be used anywhere in the world
Insulated type
North America: plan to acquire UL standard
Europe: plan to acquire EN standard
Reduced standby power

When not being used for extended periods, for example late at night, regular standalone lighting devices require AC OFF input to turn off. In many BEMS systems, lights are kept in standby mode even when turned off to enable wireless transmission. Power consumption can therefore be quite large in systems with many lighting devices. This power module helps save energy by reducing the standby power from 2W to about 0.2W.

MPA1937 series:
MPA1937A (constant current: 700mA type)
MPA1937B (constant current: 600mA type)
MPA1937C (constant current: 500mA type)

Task & Ambient Lighting Systems are being used more and more when constructing new office buildings to optimize the environment and energy performance in the building. Task & Ambient Lighting Systems adjust personal (task) lighting and broad area (ambient) lighting to maintain sufficient brightness on the work surface while simultaneously lowering the intensity of base lighting to achieve a comfortable visual environment without waste. These systems are therefore optimal for BEMS and HEMS.

While task lighting devices are ordinarily outlet based, Task & Ambient Lighting Systems connect all lights wirelessly and control all task lights collectively. In contrast, wireless dimming and switching on and off of LED lighting devices requires the power supply circuit driving the LED devices to coordinate with the wireless circuit. Murata Manufacturing has thus begun mass production of a power supply module that can be directly coupled with the wireless transmission module as a standard module to help develop seamless lighting systems.

Murata Manufacturing used the DALI system for transmission for system control by power supply module. DALI sets a unique address for each power supply module and controls each lighting device individually to achieve both comfort and energy savings. Energy consumption can also be made visible through two-way transmission. The DALI standard is an IEC international standard, *4 and complying with this standard means that many users can test and use the systems and devices for themselves
