By installing more energy-efficient lighting and controls, the Holden University Center haslowered its lighting energy consumption to0.689 watts per square foot, greatly surpassing the lighting/energy code requirement of 1.2 watts per average square foot in the building.This reduced energy consumption level contributed in the facility applying for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design(LEED)certification.
Lakeland has been recognized for its energy conservation among higher education facilities in North America, winning a 2010 Bellwether Award, which recognizes outstanding and innovative programs and practices that are successfully leading community colleges into the future. Additionally, theCollege was acknowledgedby the Central Association of College &
