Cooper Lighting, an industry leader committed to delivering innovative products and driving transformational technology in the lighting industry, has announced that it’s the premier meeting host of the inaugural 2012 DesignLights™ Consortium’s (DLC) Stakeholder Meeting to be held at the Intercontinental® Buckhead Hotel & Resort in Atlanta on Oct. 28-31, 2012. In addition to sponsoring three continuing education accredited classes on LED and lighting controls topics at the DLC meeting headquarters, Cooper Lighting will be hosting a Welcoming Reception at its corporate headquarters in Peachtree City on Sunday, October 28. The invitational event, which also qualifies for continuing education credits, includes a tour of the company’s Innovation Center and a tour of its SOURCE educational facility.

The DLC is a collaboration of both United States and Canadian utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations committed to raising awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings. The Stakeholder Meeting will provide the opportunity to bring together utility and energy efficiency program managers and executives, utility contractors, lighting designers, lighting specifiers, testing laboratories, electrical supply and installation companies, government agencies and solid-state lighting (SSL) manufacturers. Here, professionals will have the ability to learn more about the DLC including how product specifications and policies are developed. Sessions will also include discussions on the current issues affecting the rapidly growing market for solid-state lighting (SSL) products in commercial settings.

Attendees have the opportunity to gain Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits by participating in a number of classes on various SSL topics sponsored by Cooper Lighting. All the sponsored classes will help attendees gain a better understanding of new LED technologies, lighting controls, legislation and standards. In addition to earning CEU credits attending the Welcoming Reception at Cooper’s headquarters, the other CEU courses being offered include:

There is more to LED life than LM-80
This session explores luminaire system reliability in both laboratory and field conditions, common failure modes seen in LED luminaires and focuses on how best to use LM-80 results in understanding performance over time.

Evolution of Lighting Controls
This session focuses on lighting control strategies; efficiency potential; and new paradigms in design, implementation and commissioning of lighting controls. Attendee will walk away with a deep understanding of the main lighting control strategies and the challenges and opportunities of traditional, new and emerging technologies.

LED Outdoor Lighting: The Game Changer

This session examines the emergence and changing trends in outdoor lighting and how those trends are influenced by technology, legislation and lighting standards.  Participants will learn how LEDs affect fixture design, testing and performance; examine LED case studies; and learn how our visual system processes light and how that's affecting exterior lighting legislation.

In addition to being the premier meeting host of the DLC Stakeholder Meeting and hosting the Welcome Reception, Cooper Lighting is proud to co-sponsor an evening at the world-renowned Georgia Aquarium. This memorable evening will consist of a tour, reception and dinner in the truly spectacular location.

“Cooper Lighting is honored to be hosting and assisting in helping the DesignLights Consortium to educate industry professionals on valuable advancements in the rapidly changing LED technologies,” says Cooper Lighting President Mark Eubanks. “As a leader in energy-efficient lighting, Cooper Lighting continues to support programs that improve our economy and the environment, while moving our industry forward.”
