In response to the market downturn, Xiamen has paid much emphasis on the transformation and upgrading of enterprises.Taking the electric light sourceindustry for example, the growing export of electric light sourceproducts was a significant contrast to the depressed economy. The reason is that this industry has upgraded from the traditional energy-saving lamps to the more environment friendly and energy-saving LED lamps. In Xiamen, LED lamps will account for 23% in the export of energy-saving lighting products this year.

The upgrading made the electric light source enterprises of Xiamen favored by high-end LED buyers around the world. At present, of the four LED partners of Samsung in China, Xiamen holds three. Seoul Semiconductor, one of the leading LED chip makers, has set up office in Xiamen. From Jan. to Sep. of this year, Xiamen has exported 9675 batches of LED fixtures, valued USD 221 million, a year on year growth of 33.8% and 103.8 respectively. It is expected that the export amount of the whole year will hit USD 250 million.
        
Currently, Xiamen is making every effort to build quality safety demonstration plot for export industrial products including LED electric light source and supportthe transformation and upgrading of leading export enterprises, such as shoes, machinery and electronics, ceramics , fitness equipment, etc.
