On November 7^th, the working conference for LED lighting product application promotion was held in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province. Ou Xianwei, vice president of C.P.P.C.C and director of Science and Technology Bureau, conveyed the provincial conference spirit and went to details on “Zhanjiang Implementation scheme of LED lighting product application promotion”, while he also explained about related tasks.

This conference calls for street light retrofit in Zhanjiang by stages and in groups, using high-efficiency, longer-lifespan LED lighting for public lighting. The first phase will cover retrofit in the downtown area of Zhanjiang City, while the second phase will cover street lighting conversion in counties of Lianjiang, Leizhou and Wuzhou. The whole retrofit across the city is presumed to involve around 60,000 lights and expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

At the conference, Mayor Wang Zhongbing clearly put forward three requirements for the promotion. First, counties and departments should have a deep understanding to enhance responsibility of promoting the application of LED lighting products; second, they should know priority and complete retrofit as scheduled; third, they should intensify guarantee to make this meaningful move practical.
