Sentry Electric completes LED retrofit at Sacred Heart
Authors£º Updated£º2012/11/21 16:38:36 Hits£º428´Î
Sentry Electric has used LED-module-based luminaires the outdoor lighting retrofit at the Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, NY. This project includes 35 single- and multiple-luminaire poles and 50 bollards. The acorn-style luminaires on the poles utilize a Philips Lighting Fortimo Zhaga-complaint module while the bollards use a solid-state lighting (SSL) remote-phosphor light engine from Xicato.

The project goals included energy savings, a reduction in light trespass, and improved lighting for better safety according to Sentry Electric. Single-, double-, and triple-headed poles now feature Sentry's Battery Park acorn-style luminaires.

To control the light distribution, Sentry uses what it calls an SPR Reflector with Backlight Reduction to create an asymmetric indirect light distribution. The company said that the product reduces house-side illumination by 35% in typical installations.

The acorn luminaire is based on Philips Lighting's Fortimo LED High Brightness module that is compliant with the Zhaga Consortium Book 4 specification for a street-light engine with separate control gear. Sentry says that the 58W design delivers 6000 lm.

The installed bollards are from Sentry's Washington family of products. The design combines the Xicato light engine with Sentry's SPR conical reflector to provide a symmetrical Type V beam distribution around the bollard. The fixtures consume 14W.
