TESS introduces reusable LED light bulbs
Authors£º Updated£º2012/12/24 9:30:13 Hits£º414´Î
Top Energy Saving System (TESS), a Taiwan-based company devoted to energy-saving solutions, has introduced an LED light bulb characterized by two separate parts, making the bulb reusable. The bulb's upper LED lighting head (source) is disposable and can replaced with a new one enabling the lower power module (power engine) to be reused, according to company chairman Sunny Tsai.

The design of the LED light bulb integrates temperature-sensitive components into the head, and power supply and adjustment components in the separate power module, Tsai indicated. Independent power modules can be combined with LED lighting heads of different specifications based on user needs, and users can replace the lighting heads to save costs, Tsai said.

TESS has developed the separable LED light bulb through cooperation with Cree, its LED chip supplier, and Lextar Electronics and Sharp, its two LED chip packagers, Tsai said. TESS is talking with fellow vendors for cooperation to promote two-part LED bulbs, Tsai noted.

TESS expects to ship 800,000 LED light bulbs in 2012, 70-80% of which in the Taiwan market, Tsai indicated. TESS will focus business on overseas markets including the US, China, Japan and Central America, Tsai said.

TESS will offer 12W omni-directional LED bulbs which will be on shelves at the end of 2012, and will launch 15W white-light 1,500-lumen LED bulbs in February 2013. TESS has offered 18W 1,800-lumen LED bulbs, Tsai pointed out.
