As a professional LED research organization in China, GG-LED Industry Institute (GLII) released an analysis report saying that overall output value of China’s LED industry in 2012 was estimated to reach RMB 205.9 billion from 2011’s RMB 154 bn.   
 

Questions about LED overcapacity from the public still exist. Against this backdrop, the LED-related enterprises in Chongqing cannot tackle alone or stand aloof. It’s learnt that a majority of enterprises do not own core technologies, resulting in fierce homogeneous competition ,soaring cost and declining profit.

A professional from Chongqing R&D and LED industry Alliance claims that LED industry involves several stages like raw material, production and packaging etc., a large number of enterprises swarm into this industry due to relatively low technical threshold for mid and down streams. At present, over 80% of LED-related enterprises are in the mid and down streams like packaging and application etc., embodying homogeneous products.
