China’s Shenzhen Municipal Government has recently announced on its latest issue of Official Journal that it has decided to abolish “Notice for Publication of Shenzhen Municipal LED Industry Development Plan (2009 - 2015)” that was rolled out back in March, 2009, but the reason is not disclosed.

This Plan also hit the main problems Shenzhen LED industry had in the course of development. For example, high-end portion of the industry chain is comparatively weak; most LED companies specialize in the manufacturing and processing; and R&D capability lags far behind international level. These problems have hindered the city’s LED industry to develop at a fast pace as expected in the Plan.
