POSCO LED, a leading manufacturer of LED lighting products, said on April 4, 2013, that it has won three of the world’s top design awards including the iF (International Forum) design award 2013 for two of its lighting products. Awarded the Good Design award2011 by the Chicago Athenaeum in the US, the iF design awards in Germany for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013, and the red dot design award2012 in Germany, the company has received global recognition of its design capabilities.
Since its establishment in September 2012, the company has won a total of 10 internationally recognized design awards. Considering that it is a relatively young company with two years of history in the field and that other companies with a long history of business in the LED lighting sector usually receive two or three awards in a year, winning 10 awards in just two years is an outstanding achievement.
POSCO LED has played a leading role in popularizing the use of LED lamps by launching its AC LED lamps, which run without the complex AC-DC converters, in major retailers in Korea. By saving the cost with an innovative approach to the simplification in designing, the company tries to solve the issue of high price in LED lamps, the biggest barrier in promoting the use of LED lamps.
This year, in particular, the company plans to focus on the strategy of ‘one design multi-use,’ where one design can be applied in various markets according to the characteristics of a market, as it widens its sales activities in the global market, so that local sales agents, the primary customer of the company, can seek out more opportunities for the sales of its LED lamps in the market.
