Elmos Releases a LED Chip Able to Recognize Gestures
Authors£º Updated£º2013/6/21 9:06:18 Hits£º795´Î

Recently, Elmos announced a non-contact photoelectric sensor chip E527.16 able to recognize simple gestures such as approaching or swiping movements at a distance of up to approx. 25 cm.

The chip is based on the HALIOS working principle. HALIOS systems are unaffected by extreme effects of light, variable light conditions, or temperature fluctuations. No mechanical components are required. It is s a full-featured gesture recognition solution, and can be used for all types of lighting applications.

The corresponding E527.16 reference design illustrates the opportunities for intuitive control using gestures, and serves as a fully developed reference for individual customer applications. The E527.16 board is therefore in fact actually "ready to use". This makes it easier than ever to start using this reliable and proven Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) - gesture recognition.

The system for the new Elmos IC E527.16 was optimized greatly on the basis of customer feedback and the resulting findings. The IC is inspiring as a reliable gesture switch and ensures that the user experience is perceived as "human" due to the mature, intuitive HMI interaction. The complete solution includes the IC E527.16, the reference layout, the reference circuit diagram and the component recommendations.
