Winners of the LED Aurora Awards 2013 were announced after a careful review of technology, efficiency, market performance, lighting quality, lighting design, and lighting compatibility was made by a professional committee. Details of a total of 18 awarded companies and products are shown below.

2013 Best LED Packaging Product
C08-DR Series
Lite-On Technology Corporation
Lite-On Technology Corporation won the 2013 Best LED packaging Product award with their C08DR series. When selecting a winner for this award, the committee focused on the creativity of technology and the efficiency of the product. Lite-On’s C08DR series presented a luminous efficacy of 140lm/W and a 2700K color temperature, and its high voltage package feature (100V/200V) allowed it to be applied to small lighting products and be arranged with smaller yet more efficient high voltage power drives. Due to these features, the C08DR series was chosen among other competitive products.
Lite-On’s other LED packaging products were also praised in different markets, but considering the applications, technology, and market acceptance from 2012H2 to 2013H1, the committee gave a higher rating to the C08DR series.
LED Packaging Products with Best Luminous Efficacy

APT Electronics Ltd. (Guangzhou)
The committee focused most on the creativity of technology, lighting efficiency, and market performance when selecting a winner for the LED Packaging Products with Best Luminous Efficacy award. This year APT Electronics won this award with their E-Star3535, a latest ceramic patch LED without gold wire bonding. Their products in 2012 could already present a luminous efficacy of 140lm/W, and such products also have other advantaged features including a narrow color distribution, good conductance, an 80% smaller size compared with general high power products, and a wider application and design range.
The LED application market is mostly based on LED backlight and LED lighting products, while other special applications and packaging products are developed in different markets. Small product size, however, is the common characteristic of these products and also the trend in the lighting market; with a smaller product size, manufacturers are able to reduce production cost (which is probably why these products are so popular). It is expected that in 2013H2, more similar high efficiency products will be developed and by then, products with over 160lm/W will dominate the market.
Best LED Floodlight Module (Illumination Lighting Machine)

WitsLight’s ROL lighting module series was the winner of the 2013 Best LED Floodlight Module award. WitsLight’s L-type, O-type, and R-type lighting module is able to afford 10-15W, 30-50W, and 100W drive power, respectively. These products are suitable for outdoor lighting such as gardens, parks, plazas, spotlights, and fishing lights, while the anti-glare function prevents glare when looking directly at the light source. The superior floodlight efficiency under a stable state, lighting pattern, lighting quality, as well as a wider application range are the reasons why the ROL lighting module series won the award this year.
Best LED Street Lamp

When selecting a winner for the Best LED Street Lamp award, we focused on the product’s reliability, creativity of technology, luminous efficacy, and market performance. EVERLIGHT Lighting Co., Ltd. excelled in the fierce competition over this award with their SL-Victory LED street lamp. The SL-Victory street lamp applies vents designed for sports cars, the open design of the lamp shell allows the power supply to be safely replaced without using tools, a variety of wireless intelligent control systems support its energy-saving function, the high CRI is suitable for various types of roads, the internationally accepted AC input (110V-240V) is applied so installation will be smoother, it provides 277V AC voltage, and the waterproof degree of the light source and power source is up to IP67.
WitsLight’s high efficiency LED street lamp applies a lighting module design; the company applies light source products from international first-tier manufacturers, and their products are carefully tested (including temperature, humidity, and switching tests). In addition, the dustproof and waterproof degree of their street lamps is IP67, which means that such products are suitable for all types of harsh environments; the service life of these lighting products is up to 40,000 hours, which can greatly reduce the cost for replacement.
As for market performance, EVERLIGHT’s SL-Victory street lamp has already received subsidy from Taiwan’s Bureau of Energy, and WitsLight’s high efficiency LED street lamps are already installed in the parking lot of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, National Central University, Mohe in northeast China, and streets across Kunshan city, Jiangsu Province as well as Pyongyang, North Korea. The two LED products and their designs are clearly outstanding.
Security light is also a recent popular product in the market, thus we established another award for this type of lighting products.
Best LED Security Light

SWEEO LED Street Lighting SWEEO LED Lighting (Lastertech Co., Ltd.)
The 2013 Best LED Security Light was awarded to AOP’s 24W security light and SWEEO’s security light. AOP’s 24W security light has a waterproof degree of IP65, multiple independent circuits with an exchanged constant current design, a built-in over-temperature and over-voltage protection device that ensures the product’s stability, a heat dissipation design that allows the lamp temperature to be only 55° C while the ambient temperature is 30° C, and also a junction temperature of less than 70° C. SWEEO’s security light has a luminous efficacy of 90 lm/W, a CRI of over RA70, a waterproof degree of IP65, a climate tolerance of -10° C ~40° C, and a lightning-resistance degree that is up to 4KV (according to the IEC international standard). The features mentioned above showed a high degree of reliability, technology, and efficiency in both products.
Production cost, luminous efficacy, and service life is the base of excellent security lights, and along with the superior market performance and the properly planned power supply, the two companies earned the award of Best Security Lights this year.
Best LED Candle Lights

Light shape was a major problem to manufacturers when replacing traditional candle lights with LED candle lights. However, by improving the luminous efficacy and lighting angle of the products, manufacturers have found a solution to the light shape issue of LED candle lights. The 2013 Best LED Candle Light was awarded to Ceraenery’s triangle light cone candle light bulb. With the good heat dissipation and light/thin features of the ceramic substrate, four equilateral triangle shaped COB surfaces are used to form an inverted triangle light with a uniformed light distribution. The color temperature of this product is 2,700K, which presents a warm glow that is similar to that of the tungsten light bulb.
The Best LED Candle Light award is a new award that was established this year. Although several other LED candle lights were also impressive, this award was presented to Ceraenery because of the improved lighting angle and light shape. Their product stood out because it showed a similar effect of traditional candle light bulbs when applied to chandeliers.
Best LED Light Bulb

SL-60E omni-directional LED light bulb EVERLIGHT Lighting Co., Ltd.
Competition in the LED market has never been more intense; luminous efficacy, product design, technology, and market potential are all important factors when selecting a winner for the award. The 2013 Best LED Light Bulb is awarded to EVERLIGHT’s SL-60E omni-directional LED light bulb and TSMC’s advanced A19 light bulb. A three-dimensional wide-angle light-emitting design is applied to the SL-60E omni-directional light bulb, the lighting angle of SL-60E is over 270 degrees (which solves the problems of general LED light bulbs with smaller lighting angles), and it has a luminous efficacy of 85lm/W that meets the US Energy Star A60 specification. The A19 light bulb also has a 320 degree lighting angle, a luminous flux of 800lm, an 80 CRI, an A19 size that fits in all existing lighting products, and a simplified design (the optical and heat dissipation structure built by only 5 components).
TSMC’s light bulb has a good heat dissipation function and a wide lighting angle, while EVERLIGHT’s SL-60E omni-directional light bulb has a good luminous efficacy. In widely used general lighting products, a wide lighting angle, controlled light shape, and high CRI is most required. Presenting all of the above features, these two products won the award with grace.

Energy-saving light bulb 09 Ace Victory Energy
The committee focused on the product’s luminous efficacy and technology when selecting a winner for the LED Light Bulbs with the Highest Luminous Efficacy award. Taiwan Tang Hua’s patented "trench" cooling module was applied to their omni-directional LED light bulbs, and the heat dissipation issue is solved by combining heat dissipation and heat storage. Its luminous efficacy is up to 85lm/w, luminous flux is 720 but consumes less than 8.5W, and its lighting angle is 270 degrees. Ace’s energy-saving LED light bulb 09 has a CRI over 80, a 94lm/w luminous efficacy under a stable state, and it can reach 900lm with 9.5W. Both of the products gathered attention of the committee and won the 2013 LED Light Bulbs with the Highest Luminous Efficacy award.

The 2013 Best LED Light Bulb Design was awarded to Taiwan Tang Hua’s omni-directional LED light bulbs. This product received two awards this year due to its patented "ball-type" lamp shade that presents a wide lighting angle, warm glow, and an exterior that is more similar to traditional light bulbs. The committee was also impressed with their patented "trench" cooling module that covers a larger cooling area and solves heat dissipation problems.
Best LED Light Bulb (MR16)

TSMC won the 2013 Best LED Light Bulb award with their MR16 Focus. This product has a single cover, a 20 degree beam angle, no shadowing, standard size MR16 (which makes it easy to be applied to lighting products), small light board, the convenient optics as well as thermal design features, all of which make it different from other products. The luminous efficacy, production cost, heat dissipation, and lighting quality of MR16 are highly praised by the committee.
No shadowing is one of the advantages of MR16, and due to the design, the chip size is smaller. It presents a point light source which is suitable for commercial lighting. The design of this product has great potential in the market, which is the main reason why it was named the Best LED Light Bulb.
Best LED Light Tube

No longer restricted by the light source, LED light tubes now have a light shape, CRI, and lighting angle that are similar to that of traditional fluorescent light tubes. We focused on lighting efficiency, compatibility, technology, and market performance when selecting a winner for the Best LED Light Tube award. Lite-On’s LED glass tube presents a uniformed light, and reaches 100lm/W when the color temperature is 5000K. Its lighting angle is 300 degrees, its penetration rate is 90%, and it has s service life of 40,000 hours (3.3 times longer than that of fluorescent tubes). Due to the above features, this product was awarded the Best LED Light Tube this year.
Glass tube is the new trend in the LED light tube market. Unlike other LED light tubes with light spots that causes discomfort and along with a high degree of lighting efficiency, safety, and reliability, Lite-On’s LED glass tube stood out among other competitors.
Best LED Light Tube Design
8 feet high efficiency T8 LED light tube

Lextar won the Best LED Light Tube Design award with their 8 feet high efficiency T8 LED light tube. The luminous efficacy of this product is 110lm/w (40% higher than that of traditional light tubes). It is 2.4 meters long with a diameter of 2.5 centimeters (in accordance with the T8 specification) which allows it to present a direct and uniformed light. It is not affected by production, assembly, or material restrictions. The service life of this product is 40,000 hours, and the light weight also meets safety and energy-saving demands.
Impressed by the low production cost and high luminous efficacy of this product, the committee awarded Lextar the Best LED Light Tube Design.
Best Panel Light Design

Xcellent’s double astrolabe chandelier was chosen as the winner of this year’s Best Panel Light Design award. In this product, six leaves form an astrolabe, and the two astrolabes (formed by 12 leaves) create multiple reflections. Direct and indirect light form an elegant glow that is suitable for domestic, commercial, and office lighting.
When designing panel lights, manufacturers should consider both the cost and the appearance, for a beautiful design is a large purchase incentive to international customers. Therefore, with a beautiful design and good lighting quality, Xcellent’s double astrolabe chandelier stood firm as the Best Panel Light Design.
Best LED Spot Light

In addition to the product’s luminous efficacy, the creativity of technology is also an important factor to the committee when selecting a winner for the Best LED Spotlight award. GosoLED’s non-glare crystal AR111 not only has a superior performance but also reduces glare. Having in mind that a paraboloid can reflect a uniformed parallel light, GosoLED developed a parabolic reflector to release uniformed light and avoid glare. The committee was impressed by this technology and thus awarded GosoLED the 2013 Best LED Spotlight award.
